Exterior cleaning in Round Rock
The housing stock is the whole story in Round Rock. Most of it went up between the mid-eighties and about 2010, which puts a very large number of asphalt roofs at exactly the age where algae shows.

An asphalt shingle roof between fifteen and forty years old under Central Texas humidity is the textbook candidate for black streaking. Round Rock has street after street of them, built inside one long construction wave and arriving at that point together. Hail complicates the arithmetic, because plenty have been replaced once already: the age that matters is the roof's, not the house's.
That also means the comparison is unusually visible from the street. One cleaned roof on a block of uncleaned ones is obvious in a way it would not be in a neighborhood with mixed stock and mixed roof ages.

The older neighbourhoods have had thirty years for their live oaks and cedar elms to grow over the rooflines. Shade keeps a roof damp for longer after rain, and damp is what the algae needs.

Questions about Round Rock homes
My roof is about twenty years old. Is it too late to clean it?
Almost certainly not. Age is not the disqualifier — condition is. Streaking is algae growing on the surface, not the shingle failing, and a twenty-year-old roof in sound condition cleans up the same as a ten-year-old one. What matters is whether the shingles are still intact, which we will tell you honestly.
Half my street has had roofs replaced. Do I need cleaning or replacing?
Those are different questions and we only answer one of them. We clean; we do not sell roofs, so we have no reason to tell you that you need one. If what we see up there looks like failure rather than algae, we will say so and you should call a roofer.
Can you do the driveway and the roof on the same visit?
Yes, and it usually makes sense to, because roof runoff ends up on the driveway. Doing the concrete first and the roof afterwards means cleaning the concrete twice.
