Gutter cleaning, on the schedule Austin actually needs
We clear the runs and the downspouts, across Austin and the surrounding suburbs. The season here runs opposite to the one most people expect: live oaks drop in spring, not fall.
Why Austin gutter cleaning runs on a spring schedule
Live oaks are evergreen in the sense that they are never bare, but they shed the previous year's leaves in spring as the new growth pushes them off. Then they drop catkins on top of that.
So the Austin gutter season runs opposite to the one most people expect. A house cleared in November under heavy live oak can be blocked again by April, and the spring storms arrive to test it.
Downspouts are where blockages actually sit
A gutter run full of leaves is visible from the ground and looks like the problem. The blockage that matters is usually further down, packed into the elbow of a downspout where nothing can be seen.
Clearing the run and leaving the downspout is the common half-job. Water backs up at the same rate as before and the gutter overflows in the same place.
What overflowing gutters cost
Water coming over the front edge lands against the foundation. Much of this area sits on expansive clay, where repeatedly soaking one spot beside a slab is not a cosmetic issue.
Water going over the back edge gets behind the fascia instead, which is how rotten fascia board and soffit damage start.
Gutter cleaning in Austin: questions people ask
How often should gutters be cleared in Austin?
It depends almost entirely on what is overhanging them. A house under mature live oak needs it more often than one on an open lot, and the timing follows spring leaf drop rather than the fall schedule people expect.
Do you take the debris away?
Debris comes out of the runs rather than being dropped in the beds. Confirm haul-away when you call so it is agreed before we start.
Do you clean gutter guards?
We lift the guards, clear underneath and put them back where the system allows. Some designs are sealed and cannot be serviced without damaging them, and where that is the case we will tell you rather than force it.
